സമകാലീന മലയാളസാഹിത്യത്തിലെ ശ്രദ്ധേയയായ ഒരു എഴുത്തുകാരിയാണ്‌ കവയിത്രിയായ വി.എം. ഗിരിജ. മലയാളത്തിലെ പുതുനിരക്കവികളെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ആറ്റൂർ രവിവർമ്മ 1999-ൽ എഡിറ്റുചെയ്ത പുതുമൊഴിവഴികൾ എന്ന സമാഹാരത്തിൽ ഗിരിജയുടെ കവിതകൾ ഉൾപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു[1]. പ്രണയം ഒരാൽബം എന്ന ആദ്യകവിതാസമാഹാരം പ്രേം- ഏക് ആൽബം എന്ന പേരിൽ ഹിന്ദിയിലേക്ക് വിവർത്തനം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. വി.എം. ഗിരിജയുടെ കവിതകൾ കേരളത്തിലെ സർവ്വകലാശാലകളിൽ പഠനവിഷയമാണ്[2].

ജീവിതരേഖ

1961-ൽ ഷൊർണൂരിനടുത്തുള്ള പരുത്തിപ്രയിൽ‌‍ ജനിച്ചു.[3] വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായിരുന്ന കാലത്ത് മാതൃഭൂമി ആഴ്ചപ്പതിപ്പിൽ ബാലപംക്തിയിൽ എഴുതിത്തുടങ്ങി. പട്ടാമ്പി കോളേജിൽ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം. 1983 ൽ ആകാശവാണിയിൽ അനൗൺസർ ആയി ജോലിയ്ക്ക് ചേർന്ന ഗിരിജ[4] 2021 ൽ 38 വർഷത്തെ സേവനത്തിനുശേഷം കൊച്ചി നിലയത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വിരമിച്ചു.[5][6]

പുതിയൊരു ഉൾപ്രേരണാസ്പദമായ സമ്പദ് വ്യവസ്ഥയേയും (Libidinal Economy), ഒരു പ്രതിഭാഷയെ—പുരുഷയുക്തിയെ കീഴടക്കാൻ പര്യാപ്തമായ ഒരു 'അമ്മമൊഴി'യെ—യും പിന്തുടരുകയാണ് സമകാലികകവിതയിൽ സുഗതകുമാരി, വിജയലക്ഷ്മി, സാവിത്രി രാജീവൻ വി.എം. ഗിരിജ, റോസ്മേരി തുടങ്ങിയ കവികൾ എന്ന് സച്ചിദാനന്ദൻ അഭിപ്രായപ്പെടുന്നു[7]. വി എം ഗിരിജ മലയാളത്തിൽ പതിനൊന്നു പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
