Usage (to be implemented, not yet)

All fields are optional.

title

The name of the order. Defaults to pagename if none supplied.

image

E.g. the Grand Cross's star.

caption

Self-explanatory. If set to "*" (no quotation marks) the template returns [[Grand Cross]]'s star. If blank, nothing appears.

image2, caption2

Usually for the ribbon picture, which should be about 90–130 px in width. If caption2 is set to "*" (no quotation marks) the template returns Ribbon. If blank, nothing appears.

type

National order of merit, dynastic, semi-independent order of chivalry etc. Generally here the description should follow that given by the ICOC.

date

Date of the order's foundation.

country

Self-explanatory.

house

Royal house to which the order is affiliated.

religion

Religion affiliation of house. Appears in parentheses after house, if house is present. If house is empty then religion does not show.

ribbon

A textual description of just the principal colours (again see ICOC).

head_title

E.g. Grand Master.

first head

A person's name (the first head of the Order's name)

head

A person's name.

head2_title, head2

Self-explanatory.

notes

Any other relevant information. E.g. it is extinct.

As far as possible the information summarized in the infobox should not exceed the summaries of orders given by the International Commission for Orders of Chivalry (link below). Note that this means that other details such as structure and quotas are not included.
