കന്നുകാലികൾ, ആടുകളെയും മാൾട്ടാപനിയിൽ നിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വാക്സിനാണ് ബ്രൂസല്ലോസിസ് വാക്സിൻ. [1] [2] ബ്രൂസെല്ലോസിസ് ബാക്ടീരിയയെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയുള്ള ഒരു വാക്സിൻ ആണിത്. ഇത് വഴി ജീവിത കാലം മുഴുവൻ നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കുന്ന പ്രതിരോധശേഷി പശുക്കൾക്ക് കൈവരുന്നു.[3]
മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ പ്രത്യുൽപ്പാദന വ്യവസ്ഥയെയാണ് രോഗം പ്രധാനമായും ബാധിക്കുന്നത്. [4] രോഗാണുബാധയേറ്റ മൃഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും മനുഷ്യരിലേക്ക് പകരാൻ സാധ്യതയേറെയുള്ള ഒരു ജന്തുജന്യരോഗം കൂടിയാണ് ബ്രൂസല്ലോസിസ്. മ്യഗങ്ങളുമായി സമ്പർക്കമുള്ള കർഷകർ, വെറ്ററിനറി ജീവനക്കാർ, അറവുശാലയിലും ലാബോറട്ടറികളിലും ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നവർ തുടങ്ങിയവർക്ക് മാൾട്ടാപനി‍‍യുണ്ടാകാൻ സാധ്യത കൂടുതലാണ്. തിളപ്പിക്കാത്ത പാൽ, പാസ്റ്ററൈസേഷൻ ചെയ്യാത്ത പാലുത്പന്നങ്ങൾ മുതലായവ കഴിക്കുന്നതുവഴി, മൃഗങ്ങളുമായി നേരിട്ട് സമ്പർക്കമില്ലാത്തവർക്കും രോഗം ബാധക്കാം. എന്നാൽ, നിലവിൽ, മനുഷ്യർക്ക് വാക്സിൻ ലഭ്യമല്ല.
