ആദ്യകാല ജീവിതവും കുടുംബവും
[തിരുത്തുക]1948 ലാണ് അരുൾകുമാരൻ ജനിച്ചത്. [1] [2] ജാഫ്ന കോ-ഓപ്പറേറ്റീവ് സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ ഡയറക്ടറായിരുന്ന കെ.സഭാരത്നത്തിന്റെയും ജ്ഞാനംബികയുടെയും മകനായിരുന്നു. [1] [2] വടക്കൻ സിലോണിലെ കണ്ഠർമാടം സ്വദേശിയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. [3] ജാഫ്ന സെൻട്രൽ കോളേജിലും തെല്ലിപ്പളൈയിലെ മഹാജന കോളേജിലുമായിരുന്നു വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം. [1] [2] [4]
സ്കൂളിനുശേഷം 1968 [5] ൽ സിലോൺ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിൽ ചേർന്ന അദ്ദേഹം 1972 [1] ൽ എംബിബിഎസ് ബിരുദം [4] . തുടർന്ന് സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്ന് ശിശുാരോഗ്യത്തിൽ ഡിപ്ലോമ നേടി. [1] തുടർന്ന് സിംഗപ്പൂർ നാഷണൽ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിൽ ചേർന്ന് അവിടെ നിന്ന് എംഡിയും പിഎച്ച്ഡിയും നേടി. [6] തുടർന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം റോയൽ കോളേജ് ഓഫ് ഒബ്‌സ്റ്റട്രീഷ്യൻസ് ആൻഡ് ഗൈനക്കോളജിസ്റ്റുകളുടെയും എഡിൻബറോയിലെ റോയൽ കോളേജ് ഓഫ് സർജൻസിന്റെയും ഫെലോ ആയി. [6]

[തിരുത്തുക]അരുൾകുമാരൻ 1982-ൽ സിംഗപ്പൂർ നാഷണൽ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിൽ അധ്യാപകനായി ചേർന്നു. [7] [8] ഒബ്‌സ്റ്റട്രിക്‌സ് ആൻഡ് ഗൈനക്കോളജി പ്രൊഫസറും (1993-1997) ഒബ്‌സ്റ്റട്രിക്‌സ് ആൻഡ് ഗൈനക്കോളജി വിഭാഗം മേധാവിയുമായിരുന്നു (1995-1997). [9] [7] സിംഗപ്പൂരിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്ന സമയത്ത് അരുൾകുമാരൻ അമേരിക്ക, സ്വീഡൻ, ഫ്രാൻസ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലും ഗവേഷണം നടത്തി. [8]

[തിരുത്തുക]മറ്റ് കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങളുമായി കൂടുതൽ അടുക്കാൻ അരുൾകുമാരൻ 1997 ൽ യുണൈറ്റഡ് കിംഗ്ഡത്തിലേക്ക് താമസം മാറി. [10] ഇവിടെ, നോട്ടിംഗ്ഹാം സർവകലാശാലയിൽ (1997-2001) ഒബ്‌സ്റ്റട്രിക്‌സ് ആൻഡ് ഗൈനക്കോളജി പ്രൊഫസറും സതേൺ ഡെർബിഷയർ അക്യൂട്ട് ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ എൻഎച്ച്എസ് ട്രസ്റ്റിന്റെ (1997-2001) നോൺ എക്‌സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് ഡയറക്ടറുമായിരുന്നു. [11] [12] അരുൾകുമാരൻ 2001 മുതൽ 2013 വരെ ലണ്ടൻ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റിയിലെ സെന്റ് ജോർജ്സിൽ ഒബ്‌സ്റ്റട്രിക്‌സ് ആൻഡ് ഗൈനക്കോളജി പ്രൊഫസറും മേധാവിയുമായിരുന്നു [12] [13] .
അരുൾകുമാരൻ ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ ഫെഡറേഷൻ ഓഫ് ഗൈനക്കോളജി ആൻഡ് ഒബ്‌സ്റ്റട്രിക്‌സിന്റെ ട്രഷററും (1997-2003), അതിന്റെ സെക്രട്ടറി ജനറലും (2003-2006), 2012 മുതൽ അതിന്റെ പ്രസിഡന്റുമാണ്. [14] [15] [16] [15] 2007 മുതൽ [14] 2010 വരെ റോയൽ കോളേജ് ഓഫ് [16] ആൻഡ് ഗൈനക്കോളജിസ്റ്റുകളുടെ പ്രസിഡന്റായി സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് അദ്ദേഹം വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റായി സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു. 2012 ജൂണിൽ, 2013-2014 ലെ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് മെഡിക്കൽ അസോസിയേഷന്റെ പ്രസിഡന്റായി അദ്ദേഹം തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. [തിരുത്തുക]അരുൾകുമാരൻ 1998 മുതൽ ക്ലിനിക്കൽ ഒബ്‌സ്റ്റട്രിക്‌സ് ആൻഡ് ഗൈനക്കോളജിയിലെ ബെസ്റ്റ് പ്രാക്ടീസുകളുടെയും റിസർച്ചിന്റെയും എഡിറ്റർ-ഇൻ-ചീഫ് ആണ് [18] . 24 പുസ്തകങ്ങളും 240 ലേഖനങ്ങളും 150 ലധികം പുസ്തക അധ്യായങ്ങളും അദ്ദേഹം എഴുതുകയോ എഡിറ്റ് ചെയ്യുകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
