വടക്കേ അമേരിക്കയിൽ തിൻ-ബിൽഡ് മുറെ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന കോമൺ മുറെ അഥവാ കോമൺ ഗ്വില്ലെമോട്ട്' (Uria aalge) ഓക്ക് പക്ഷികളിൽപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു വലിയ കടൽപ്പക്ഷിയാണ്. ഉത്തര അറ്റ്ലാന്റിക് പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും, വടക്കൻ ശാന്തസമുദ്രത്തിലും, താഴ്ന്ന ആർട്ടിക് പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും, ഉത്തരഭൂഖണ്ഡങ്ങളിലെ ജലാശയങ്ങളിലും ഈ പക്ഷികളെ കാണാൻ കഴിയുന്നു. ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ സമയം സമുദ്രത്തിൽ ചെലവഴിക്കുന്ന ഇവ പാറക്കെട്ടുകളിലേക്കോ ദ്വീപുകളിലേക്കോ പ്രജനനത്തിനായി മാത്രം എത്തുന്നു.

പക്ഷികളുടെ പ്രധാന ഭക്ഷണം മത്സ്യം ആയതിനാൽ ഇതിന്റെ ഇറച്ചി എണ്ണമയമുള്ളതും ഇരുണ്ടതും ആണ്. സാൻഫ്രാൻസിസ്കോയിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഇതിന്റെ മുട്ടകൾ പത്തൊമ്പതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ മധ്യത്തോടെ ഫരല്ലോൺ ദ്വീപുകളിൽ നിന്ന് വർഷത്തിൽ ഏതാണ്ട് ഒരു ദശലക്ഷം മുട്ടകൾ വളർന്നുവരുന്ന നഗരത്തിന് ഭക്ഷണമായി എത്തിയിരുന്നു.

പക്ഷി നിരീക്ഷണം കോമൺ മുറെകൾക്ക് വൈരുദ്ധ്യ ഫലങ്ങൾ ഉളവാക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. 1869-ലെ കടൽപ്പക്ഷികൾ സംരക്ഷണ നിയമം അനുസരിച്ച് പക്ഷിനിരീക്ഷകർ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സർക്കാരിന് പരാതി നൽകിയിരുന്നു. ഈ നിയമം പ്രജനന കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ പക്ഷികളെ വേട്ടയാടുന്നതും മുട്ട ശേഖണവും തടയുന്നു.
