ഗ്രീൻലാന്റിന് കിഴക്കും സ്വാൽബാർഡിന് ഏകദേശം 160 കിലോമീറ്റർ പടിഞ്ഞാറുമായി ഗ്രീൻലാൻഡ് കടലിനുള്ളിൽ,[1] ഫ്രാം കടലിടുക്കിലെ ഒരു ബാത്തിമെട്രിക് സവിശേഷതയാണ് മൊല്ലോയ് ഡീപ്പ് (മോളോയ് ഹോൾ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു). ആർട്ടിക് സമുദ്രത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും ആഴമേറിയ സ്ഥലമാണിത്. 1950-1970 കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ നോർത്ത് അറ്റ്ലാന്റിക്, നോർത്ത് പസഫിക്, ആർട്ടിക് സമുദ്ര മേഖലകളിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്ന യുഎസ് നേവി ഗവേഷണ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായിരുന്ന ആർതർ ഇ മൊല്ലോയുടെ ബഹുമാനാർത്ഥമായാണ് മൊല്ലോയ് ഡീപ്, മോളോയ് ഹോൾ, മോളോയ് ഫ്രാക്ചർ സോൺ, മൊല്ലോയ് റിഡ്ജ് എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ പേരിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
